Sussex saddlebacks

Are you interested in looking after pigs but don’t have enough land or time to go it alone?

Sussex Saddlebacks is a social enterprise with a small number of members (around about 14 families) who have come together to breed and rear rare breed pigs near Chichester. We come from all walks of life, some with young families and most of us work full time. The work load is shared and we learn new skills all the time – building arks, wiring up an electric fence, showing and handling pigs and much more.

We are currently looking for new members. The commitment is to attend a monthly meeting (usually on a Wednesday), a monthly morning work party and a weekly slot on the feed rota. In return you’ll be entitled to meat at a reduced rate. No experience with pigs necessary but a willingness to pitch in and learn and no objection to getting muddy is essential.
