Food Mapping

The food mapping project collated information about local food in Chichester: what is available, how it is transported to processors and retailers and how it gets to the consumer. The intention was to be able to make objective contributions to establishing a local food system which supports WSCC's plan for a county-wide low impact diet within the next 15-20 years, rather than bringing subjective pre-conceptions to the local food debate. The project started in conjunction with testing a food mapping toolkit for CPRE and our input has significantly improved the toolkit which is now available for other groups wishing to map their local food web.
